Abushieba Ibrahim was born in 1978 in Khartoum- Sudan. He has five brothers and two sisters; he is the youngest. Dr. Abushieba raised and grown in Sudan before he came to the United State of America in 2004. He joined Broward College (BC) in 2006 as a Mathematics Professor. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Math from Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) Khartoum Sudan, a Master of Science in Mathematics from Nile Valley University Khartoum Sudan, a Master of Business Administration from American Intercontinental University (AIU), and a Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics from Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) Khartoum Sudan.

Over the past 18 years of his career, Dr. Abushieba was recognized as BC-South/Central Campus’ Adjunct Professor of the Year in 2010 and 2014. He was a nominee for Professor of the year in 2015 and 2016. He has taught at Nova Southeastern University as an Associate Lecturer to undergraduate students. He taught at Art Institute Fort Lauderdale for three years (2010-2013) teaching General Mathematics. Also, he has taught at Miami Dade College (MDC) since 2008; he was the only professor teaching Calculus for Biology Majors (MAC2241) from 2010-2014. For four years, he was a high school Math teacher in the Al-Gasim Private High School.

While working at MDC’s North Campus, he served as a specialist advisor for Math Department, assigning students to an appropriate course after taking a CLEP exam, reinstating students back to the class if been drop for any reasons, and checking the overrides card. Furthermore, he was a coordinator of MY MATH LAB creating all courses in MML such as MAT0018/0022C/0028/1033 and MAC1105. He designed a commissioned course for Trigonometry MAC1114 and four un-commission courses Calculus I&II, Business Calculus MAC2233, and Pre-Calculus MAC1140. He was the coordinator of Math Awareness Week 2018 at BC-South Campus.

Dr. Abushieba represented Broward College in E-Learning Africa 2008, which was held in Ghana- Accra. He attended a conference “It All Adds Up” supported by Cengage Learning in San-Diego, California, in 2017, also attended a conference “ Science and Engineering for Social Good” supported by NCSCE in Atlanta, GA 2018. He attended ICTCM 2018 supported by Pearson in Washington, DC, in 2018.

Dr. Abushieba has completed more than 270 Professional Development hours since 2007. Presently, he is taking courses through Coursera in math pedagogy. He has been a chairperson for two committees selecting and adopt new textbooks and software for Business Calculus and Trigonometry& Pre-Calculus. He has reviewed two textbooks through Pearson Publishers. Dr. Abushieba BC committee memberships include the International Education Committee, Grade Appeal Committee, Course Substitution committee, and screening committee to hire a Math AD Position. Lastly, he participated in Early Alert transition to Education Advisory Board (EAB)

In closing, Dr. Abushieba spends his leisure time reading mathematics-oriented works to improve his teaching as well as spending quality time with family and friends.
